"Going down the Douro (...) towards the town of Pocinho, far below the area of Vila Nova de Foz Côa.On the left bank of the river where the slope rises, near the area where boats cross the border from the Beira to Trás-os-Montes, exists a small farm that produces excellent wine. It is known by the name of Quinta do Pocinho, but designated, according to his letters, by the Baron of Forrester as Quinta do Daniel, owned by the heirs of Daniel de Almeida, from Vila Nova de Foz Côa. Grapes: Touriga Nacional aged in new french oak barrels; Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz aged in new american oak barrels. Fermentation occured in small stainless steel tanks, with subsequent maceration for 20 days.

Soil: Schist

Alc. level: 14.5%

Serving temperatures: 16ºC

Perfect food pairing: Bold flavoured meats (e.g. red meats, such as picanha)

Tasting notes: A beautiful ruby-coloured red that leaves a consistent tear in the glass. Rounded, it's an acidic medium-bodied wine with firm, but gentle tannins and long finish; one can taste and/or smell notes of red plum, tobacco and spices.
